EEM is leading a team of experts in the review of the environmental impact statement for a large uranium mining project in Nunavut.

Approach and Solution

EEM is managing a team of experts brought together to review the project description and environmental impact statement of a large uranium mining project in Nunavut on behalf of a Regional Inuit Association that represents the Inuit landowners. The review is part of the federal environmental and Nunavut Impact Review Board processes. A significant portion of the mandate is focused on reviewing the proponent’s existing technical documentation to determine if all possible impacts (environmental, social and economic) are considered.

Results

The EEM team has highlighted important issues that will need to be considered by the proponent prior to the project going ahead.
