Summary

EEM and its social media partner conducted a blogosphere analysis to evaluate social and environmental risks related to the operations of a major Canadian petroleum company.

Approach and Solution

After a brief keyword workshop, EEM and its social media partner used sophisticated technology based on actor network theory to identify key issues, conversations areas, and online stakeholders. Results were analyzed in terms of social and environmental risk, which fed into the development of an outreach strategy and various risk management actions.

Results

This project broadened the company’s stakeholder relations scope to include social media while improving social and reputational risk assessment and associated action planning practices.
